Hasselblad 907X CFV 100C – Street Photography in the Golden Glow of Old Delhi

On my recent photography journey to India, I explored the vivid streets of Old Delhi—a place where light, history, and chaos all intersect. Amid the honking rickshaws, crowded alleyways, and textured facades, I brought along a camera that truly lets me slow down and see: the Hasselblad 907X with the CFV 100C digital back.

This photo was captured just before sunset, when the warm light wrapped around the street corners like silk. The buildings glowed in amber hues, and the city, usually loud and frenetic, softened for a moment. I raised the camera and knew instantly: this was the frame I came for.

📷 Gear & Settings:

Camera: Hasselblad 907X

Digital Back: CFV 100C

Lens: XCD 55mm

Settings: f/3.4 | 1/1000 sec | ISO 400

With this setup, I aimed to freeze street motion while preserving the rich tonal gradation that medium format excels in. Shooting at f/3.4 gave me depth without fully isolating the background—a useful choice when you want the viewer to feel the street’s context.

🎨 Why the 907X CFV 100C?

The 907X CFV 100C offers something unique: the charm and compact form of a vintage waist-level camera, paired with Hasselblad’s signature color science and a 100MP medium format sensor.

The tactile experience of composing from the top screen slows me down just enough to become fully aware of the scene. There’s no rush—just observation, patience, and precision. And when the shutter clicks, the results speak for themselves: gorgeous tones, deep shadow detail, and that painterly medium format look.

🛎️ Tips for Street Photography in Old Delhi:

Time your shoot for golden hour (early morning or just before sunset) to take advantage of soft directional light.

Use minimal gear—the 907X is discreet and pairs well with prime lenses like the 55mm.

• Be ready to adapt. Streets are crowded and unpredictable; sometimes the best frame comes from waiting and watching.
